Movement Evolution is owned and operated by Dr. Katie Southwick, PT, DPT. An Ohio native, Katie completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science at Ashland University where she was a member of the varsity track and field team and club volleyball team. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Ohio University in 2016.
Katie transitioned to Maryland after completing her schooling where she gained valuable experience working with a large population of active military, veterans, and high school athletes as well as players of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, a minor league baseball team in Waldorf, MD.
Katie moved to South Florida in 2017 when given the opportunity to work for an outpatient facility working with collegiate and professional athletes in addition to managing a boutique clinic in a tennis community. She finally arrived in the Palm Beach community at the start of 2020 and has found a place to call home. Continuing her journey to explore different avenues in the physical therapy field, Katie took on a role as a PT in an addiction and mental health treatment center where she gained valuable experience understanding the relationship between pain and weakness tied to emotions and trauma. This led to an ongoing quest to study the mind-body-soul connections to treat patients from an entirely different lens. One of Katie’s mentors coined her new way of practice “meta” physical therapy due to the use of metaphysical principles with traditional physical therapy knowledge and skills.
In her spare time, Katie enjoys the ongoing pursuit of metaphysical and alternative medicine studies, going for walks with her husband and their dog, and reading at the beach.
“Meta” physical therapy is a self-made term to describe the use of metaphysical principles such as the natural vibrational energy frequency of our bodies and the understanding of the interaction of emotions and thoughts with physical structures in our body to treat pain and ailments with a mind-body-spirit approach.
Traditional physical therapy techniques such as soft tissue mobilizations, myofascial releases, cupping, dry needling, and therapeutic exercises are used in conjunction with knowledge of where emotions are stored in different structures of the body in order to guide you to the true sources of your pain and dysfunction.
-Chronic pain
-Headaches
-Back and neck pain
-Repeated injuries
-Pain that has failed traditional PT or medical intervention
-Any orthopedic pain or injury (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle/foot)

No. Insurance companies control what type and how much of the various aspects of physical therapy can be utilized with no knowledge of your true needs. In order to provide you the highest quality, individualized, one-on-one care, out of pocket pay is required to avoid third party limitations.
No. Doctors of physical therapy are clinical doctors not medical doctors. While a background in pharmaceuticals is a part of our schooling, we are not licensed to prescribe medicine and any questions regarding dosing, starting, or stopping your medication should be discussed with your doctor and/or a licensed pharmacist.
Dr. Katie Southwick, PT, DPT does not practice out of a set location. Movement Evolution was started during the pandemic and out of necessity, Katie was going into her patient's homes under safer conditions for all. Over the years, Katie came to realize that patient's preferred this type of concierge service so it remains unchanged. No driving to your appointment, waiting in traffic, rushing to the next appointment. Katie shows up to your door with all the tools needed for your specific care.
